White Banded Noctuid Moth

Posted on Updated on

White Banded Noctuid MothGenus: Donuca
Species: Donuca rubropicta
Common names: White Banded Noctuid Moth
ALA reference

I found this impressively marked moth resting on the trunk of a eucalypt tree. The white bands on the fore and rear wings are perfectly aligned when the moth is in the resting position and coupled with the colourful eye patches give it a really striking appearance. Unfortunately I wasn’t able to find any information about its caterpillar but suspect that it is of the loopy-loop type.
