Doodia asperaFamily: Blechnaceae
Genus: Doodia
Common names: Prickly rasp fern
ALA reference

This is a widespread and very common fern and can be found scattered through the reserve. It often grows in tall eucalypt forests and on earth banks in rainforests. This dense clump is on an earth bank and until a few months ago was covered with a thin layer of cat’s claw creeper. The cat’s claw was killed by spraying it (and the ferns) with Starane herbicide. Starane (at 3ml per litre water) is particularly useful in situations such as this because it causes minimal damage to plants such as ferns, sedges, and grasses. (April 2011)
