Common names: Forest Kingfisher
ALA reference

A bird that is quite commonly seen in the reserve is the Forest Kingfisher. It feeds mainly on insects and builds its nest in a hole it excavates from a termite mound in the trees. When we stopped work at the end of the session we could hear the baby Kingfishers in this nest just above where we had been working, calling out to their parents to bring them more food.
