Trachymene incisa subsp. incisa

Posted on Updated on

Trachymene incisaFamily: Araliaceae
Genus: Trachymene
Common names: Native Parsnip
ALA reference

I was really surprised to find this delightful little wildflower growing in an area that was previously completely smothered by Callisia fragrans (Basket Plant). It is the only plant of this species that I have found in the Reserve. It is from the Apiales (Carrot) Order and has a thick perennial tuberous taproot from which multiple growths arise. (November 2008)
