Wahlenbergia gracilis

Wahlenbergia gracilisFamily: Campanulaceae
Genus: Wahlenbergia
Common names: Australian Bluebell, Sprawling Bluebell
ALA reference

This very common perennial herb is growing in the open area beside Fort Road where it covers at least 100 square metres. It flowers for most of the year except mid-winter. One interesting feature that I observed when I was photographing the flowers is that they are closed in the morning and only open in the afternoon. (December 2007)
